North American
Standard Edition DVD Keepcase and Insert
Though the DVD itself is exactly the same as the first disc of the Ultimate
Edition, the Standard Edition has a unique cover and booklet made from
an unused idea for the movie poster. The first image below is the keepcase
cover. The other two images are the front and back of the insert booklet.
North American Ultimate
Edition DVD Box
The Ultimate Edition is a three-disc set enclosed in a book-style box.
This box, at present, is fairly unique in the world of anime on DVD. It
is incredibly sturdy but also very high-quality. The corners are virtually
impossible to dent during regular use. Bandai is to be commended.
North American Ultimate
Edition Keepcases and Inserts
Each disc in the Ultimate Edition box set has its own keepcase with a
cover and basic insert booklet. Please hold your mouse over the thumbnails
or look at the file names to clarify which part of the set the images
depict.
North American Ultimate
Edition Memorial Book
The North American Ultimate Edition came with a booklet featuring interviews
with Escaflowne creators. This booklet is not a complete translation of
the Japanese DTS Booklet, and does not contain the same illustrations.
Be forewarned the scans below are extremely large, in order to
preserve readability. Many thanks to Kayleigh
for providing the scans below.
Japanese Regular
Edition DVD Keepcase and Booklet
Below are the front and back covers of the regular edition Japanese DVD
keepcase, as well as a sample page from the 16 page regular edition DVD
booklet. The regular edition booklet is more or less a simplified, edited
version of the DTS Limited Edition booklet, archived below.
Japanese Limited
Edition DTS DVD Box and Keepcase
The cover art for the Japanese Limited Edition DVD release was designed
by Nobuteru Yuuki. The two-disc set came in a cardboard slipcase, into
which the DVD keepcase and accompanying booklet were inserted.
DTS Giveaway Shitajiki
(Pencil Board)
The very first pressings of the Limited Edition DTS DVD in Japan were
sent out with a free giveaway a gorgeous shitajiki featuring the
cover art for both the DTS DVD and the VHS movie releases. These shitajiki
were extremely limited in quantity and are no longer available.
For those of you who
have never heard the term, a shitajiki is a decorated piece of coated
cardboard or plastic. Shitajiki are slipped between sheets of paper in
a notebook so that the owner can write as hard as they like without pressing
through to the other pages. Shitajiki are very popular in Japan, where
they are collected much like trading cards.
Japanese Limited
Edition DTS DVD Booklet
The Japanese Limited Edition DVD came with a 36 page booklet detailing
the history of the Escaflowne story. Prototype images from the TV series,
manga, and movie were scattered throughout the text. A selection of character
and mecha design sketches from the film were included at the back of the
pamphlet.
