Original lyrics and Japanese lyrics were transcribed from the Escaflowne movie soundtrack CD booklet. The literal English translation was submitted by Karen Odain. Please note that the official Bandai lyrics are not literal translations. They were modified to fit the movie dialogue, in which Van is translating for Hitomi.
The original lyrics consist of made-up words as well as disconnected terms from various languages, including Romanian. Yoko Kanno has a history of using this technique in order to create exotic-sounding lyrics. A Japanese "translation" of the lyrics was provided in the Japanese Escaflowne movie soundtrack CD booklet.
