Where To See The Scenes

Rather than leaving the deleted scenes on the cutting room floor, Sunrise and Bandai Visual restored them to the VHS, DVD, and LD versions of the Escaflowne series made available for sale in Japan. The Japanese rental videos did not contain the extra scenes.

Bandai Entertainment, the U.S. equivalent of Bandai Visual of Japan, did not receive the rights to the deleted footage when it licensed Escaflowne. Therefore, the extra footage is not available on any North American release of the series.

The fact that the deleted footage has never been prepared for a North American release means that it has never been translated into English in a professional manner. There are no scripts available in English.

To view the extended versions of the Escaflowne episodes, you will need to purchase a Japanese for-sale release of the series. The Japanese VHS and LD editions of Escaflowne are long out of print, as is the Japanese DVD box set. It is still possible, however, to buy the individual standard Japanese DVD volumes. You need only purchase DVD Vision 1 (Catalog Number BCBA-0784) and DVD Vision 2 (Catalog Number BCBA-0785). These are the only volumes that contain deleted footage since no material was removed from later episodes.

Both Amazon Japan and CD Japan stock the DVD volumes. I am sorry, but I cannot assist you with the actual purchase of the discs — I can only give you links to recommended sources. The rest is up to you.
